Don’t miss the keynote sessions featuring leading scholars from around the world. The day opens with Intercultural Communication by Prof. Roger Nunn and Prof. Naeema Hann (UK), followed by Emeritus Prof. Amy Tsui (Hong Kong), who will address English and EMI in the Era of Deglobalization. Prof. Jozep Colpaert (Belgium) and Prof. Glenn Stockwell (Japan) will explore Teacher Education and Global Policy, followed by Prof. Chun Lai (Hong Kong) on Self-Directed Learning with Technology. Prof. Paul Matsuda (USA) offers insights on Rethinking Asian Scholarship, and Prof. Lisa McEntee-Atalianis (UK) will close with a talk on Language and Sustainable Development.

Besides, this year’s ESBB Plenary Sessions feature a powerful lineup of global scholars addressing innovation, equity, and emerging practices in language education. Prof. Rae Ping Lin and Prof. Wen-Chi Wu (Taiwan) will speak on Reimagining Multiliteracies, while Prof. S. Sivasubramaniam (South Africa) will discuss Writing as Social Response. In Research Ethics & Representation, Prof. Theron Muller and Prof. John Adamson (Japan) explore equity in academic publishing. Prof. Atima S. Dwivedi (India) shares insights on Empowering Women Students, while Prof. Biljana Cubrovich (Serbia) explores Dialect Mixing in EFL. The plenary closes with VR & Cross-Cultural Learning by Prof. Gloria Shu Mei Chwo (Taiwan).

Organized by the EMI Teaching and Learning Center, Taiwan Tech, this workshop brings together faculty and administrators from partner universities to exchange experiences and strategies in EMI, with a special focus on Indigenous and Minority Education in Remote Areas. Join our EMI workshop to explore how presence, voice, and nonverbal cues shape student trust and engagement. Deputy Director Chien-Kuo Chiu & Prof. Yi-Chu Chen will reveal simple steps: Prepare (Before)-Act (During)-Recover (After) to boost community disaster resilience. Led by Prof. Yi-Chu Chen, and supported by Deputy Director Chien-Kuo Chiu, participants will move From Resources to Action by designing localized disaster prevention lesson plans for schools and communities. Finally, Prof. Ying Wannie Wang will highlight The Power of Teaching Persona in EMI and turn Communication Breakdowns into Opportunities for empathy and inclusion.
